Biography
Christophe Facal is a doctoral candidate at McGill University, under the supervision of Jocelyn Maclure (McGill) and Chris Howard (McGill). He previously completed a dual-discipline bachelor’s degree in French literature and philosophy and a master’s degree in philosophy under the supervision of Frédéric Bouchard (UdeM) at the University of Montreal. His doctoral research is a collection of articles on human enhancement through biotechnology. He studies the impact of biotechnological enhancement on autonomy, freedom, the ethics of beliefs, and the normative role of human nature. At the same time, he conducts research on the philosophy of emotions and artificial intelligence within the AIOLIA group. Christophe is also part of the research team at the Stephen A. Jarislowsky Chair in Human Nature and Technology.
